Earl E. Williams, age 86, of Paola, KS passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his care home in Olathe.

Earl was born in Blue Springs, MO on November 15, 1929. His parents were Frank and Marion Barnard Williams, and most of his upbringing was in Louisburg Kansas, where he graduated from high school. He married Mary E Willis on June 20, 1952. They made their home in the Paola area, where they raised five children.

Earl was a farmer by summer and propane truck driver by winter, but his real love was playing, coaching, and umpiring baseball. The number of young aspiring ballplayers in the Paola area he affected are immeasurable. He played and excelled well into his 50’s, and simply always made time for family, friends, or neighborhood kids that wanted to go play some ball.

Earl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paola, being involved in the Friendship Sunday School class, prayer chain, and most of all, he loved contributing to the choir when he wasn’t providing special music with that booming beautiful baritone voice of his.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife Mary, along with his mother and father mentioned above, and two brothers-in-law he was very close to.

Left to cherish his memory are: sons Gary Williams of Paola, Dr. Bary Williams of Emporia, and Greg Williams of Phoenix; daughters Tina Williams Patton of Phoenix, and Debi Williams Fry of Bloomdale, OH; brothers Frank Williams of Lee’s Summit and Richard Williams of Louisburg; sisters Anna Belle Paddy of Shawnee and Wanda Copeland of Louisburg; sister-in-law Arlene Willis of Dallas; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and last but not least, extended family and friends too numerous to be mentioned. Earl will be greatly missed.

Memorials may be made to the Miami County Diabetes Support Group or First Baptist Church of Paola.
