Shirley Ilene Robinson (Wares), age 86, of Paola, Kansas, passed away November 10, 2016 at her home.

Shirley was born to Allen and Mary Wares (Kagel) in Belvidere, Illinois. She graduated from Belvidere High School in 1947. On October 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Roy Robinson. They were blessed with three children, Sherry Rae, Randall Roy, and Sandra Jean. The family moved to Sheldon, Missouri in 1969.

Shirley was employed at Vernon County Health Department from 1974 to 1996 and served as Administrator from 1978 to 1996. They moved to Paola, Kansas in 2009.

Shirley was very giving of her time and talents and served in many organizations. She served as an organist from 1970 to 2009 and taught Sunday school for 10 years for the Methodist Church. She was also a 4-H leader and during her lifetime was a member of the following organizations: American Legion Auxiliary, Missouri Public Health Association, Executive Women’s Association of Missouri, Vernon County Senior Citizens Building Board, Red Cross Board, West Central Community Action Women’s Health Services Board, Nevada Regional Technical Health Services Board, Bronaugh School Home Economics Advisory Board and Bronaugh School Public Private Partnership Advisory Board.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 68 years Roy, son, Randall Roy Robinson (Romy) of Paola, KS; daughters, Sherry Rae Stromp (Peter) of Sun Lakes, AZ, and Sandra Jean Moll (Dave) of Paola, KS; brother Wayne A. Wares of Poplar Grove, IL; sister Jean A. Schoepski of Poplar Grove, IL; grandchildren, Megan Clark (Tony), Hannah, and Reed McFarland, Alexis and Kaylee Bryan, Jacob, Marcus and Matthew Robinson and David Moll Jr (Sami); great grandchildren Lilli, Haiden and Wade Moll and Beckett Clark.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Miami County Cancer Foundation.

Memorial Service is 2:00 p.m. Sunday Nov. 13, 2016 at the Paola United Methodist Church, 209 S. Silver St., Paola, KS.
