Betty Jean Ricketts Timberlake, age 91, of Paola, Kansas passed away unexpectedly at her home August 8, 2014.

She was born December 2, 1922 in Miami County, Kansas to Elmer A. and Bessie Hamlin Ricketts. Betty attended grade school at Oak Grove School District 18 and graduated from Paola High School in 1940. After graduation she worked at Montgomery Ward in Northeast Kansas City; then in Civil Services for 10 years at the Quartermaster Depot and at the Internal Revenue Office.

On April 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Rowland C. Timberlake at Roanoke Presbyterian Church of Kansas City, MO. Together they had two children and moved to Miami County from Lenexa, Kansas in May of 1971 to be near her mother.

Betty was a member of the Miami Presbyterian Church where she held the office of Clerk of the Session for 17 years, member of the Eastern Star Adda Chapter 467, Lenexa, Kansas. Betty was also a leader for Camp Fire Girls in Lenexa for her daughter’s group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Timothy , brother Edward Ricketts, and sister Thelma Woodrum.

She is survived by her daughter Debra Sheridan and husband Steve of Eudora, grandson Patrick Seats, granddaughter Cara Seats, great grandsons Jack and Reilly Seats, cousin Una Wheeler and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
