Laura Jo Trumbly Baxter passed away in Paola, KS on September 1, 2014

Laura Jo was born on July 19, 1958 in Paola, KS to Ila Mae and Donald “Monk” Trumbly. As the middle child of her seven brothers and three sisters, Laura asserted her place with attitude - always bossy, but always around to lend a hand if needed. These were only some of the characteristics that would define the way she lived her life. Independent and self-starting, Laura graduated from Paola High School in 1976 and attended Emporia University, majoring in Special Education. In 1981, while working at Channel 62 as a Business Manager, Laura’s first daughter was born in Shawnee Mission: Emily Mae. A couple years after the birth of her second daughter, Hannah Jaye in 1991, she began working at Honeywell. There she became highly successful as a customer service representative, and earned two different awards for her work. In 2004 she moved back to Paola to be closer to her father and the rest of her family. In her free time she enjoyed running and staying active, running in several half marathons and a full marathon. She also enjoyed photography and interior decorating. Laura’s favorite parts of life were being in the sun, be it at the beach, or on her deck in Paola, KS, watching Jayhawk basketball and Chiefs football, talking about her daughters, and helping people in any way she could, especially her beloved family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ila Mae Trumbly, her father, Donald Trumbly, and her sister, Donna Trumbly, and her great-nephew Renner Trumbly.

Laura is survived by her daughters Emily Anderson and Hannah Dussold and her six grandchildren as well as her brothers John Trumbly, Jim Trumbly, Steve Trumbly, Jeff Trumbly, Bob Trumbly, Francis Trumbly, and Donnie Trumbly, and her sisters Marcia Thompson and Linda Trumbly-Ellmann. A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 6, 2014 at the Paola Christian Church in Paola, KS.
