Delores Austin, age 84, of Paola, Kansas, died September 20, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Delores was born July 13, 1930 in Stanton Township, Miami County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ben and Alice Louise (Goodrick) Smith. She was the third of their four children. She grew in Miami County and graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1948.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Austin on June 5, 1950 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Paola and became the parents of three daughters. Delores and Kenneth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Paola United Methodist Church.

Delores was a seamstress working at Lounge Craft which was a garment factory in Paola. She had also worked a short time at her mother’s (Louise Smith’s) Nursing Home and Osawatomie State Hospital in the dietary department.

She enjoyed quilting, geneaology, cooking, traveling, and hosting family parties. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Paola, the Miami County Historical Society, and the Miami County Quilting Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers Harold, Dale, and (twin brother) Dewayne Smith.

She is survived by her three daughters Sharon Ericson (Bob) of Memphis, TN, Brenda Oenbring (Patrick) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Gale Floyd of Paola; her half-brother Roger Smith (Carla) of Wichita; three grandchildren Corrine Bresko (Marcus), Raymond Oenbring (Sarah), and Amanda Sanders (Jon); six great-grandchildren Wyatt, Zane, and Claire Bresko, Olivia Oenbring, Alli and Kate Sanders; her sisters-in-law Olivia Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Jeannie Smith, and Ethel Moody; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions are to the Paola United Methodist Church or the Kansas Lions Club Eye Bank.
