Norlan Wayne Thoden, age 71, of Osawatomie, Kansas died July 31, 2014 at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola.

Norlan was born January 9, 1943 at Paola, Kansas. He was the son of Henry T. and Arlene L. (Nellis) Thoden. Norlan was the older of their two children. He grew up in Paola and graduated from Paola High School.

Norlan was a farmer, a mechanic, and a long haul truck driver. He enjoyed refurbishing old tractors. In his later years, he owned Thoden Trucking.

He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Paola having served with the National Guard. His church membership was with Trinity Lutheran Church at Block.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by three children Rexan Hyskell of Olathe, LeRoy Thoden of Paola, and Audra Whorton of Texas; his father Henry Thoden of Osawatomie; his sister Janet Cobat of Phoenix, Arizona; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
