Patricia Ann Prothe Peckman, age 82, passed away peacefully July 25, 2015, surrounded by family. Patricia was born on a farm east of Block on November 1, 1932, to Arthur William Prothe and Elva Maxine Overbeck Prothe.

Patricia grew up in the Block community. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran School at Block in 1946 where she rode her horse to and from school and graduated from Paola High School in 1950. Patricia was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed there in 1946. She was a member of Twin Valley 4-H club growing up and took pride in showing cattle and sewing at the Miami County Fair each summer.

She was married to Donald Dean Peckman on July 4, 1951, at the Trinity Lutheran Church. She made their home in Paola, Kansas while her husband was serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. When Donald returned from war he built their home on the north side of Paola. They had two children, Charles (1956) and Terri (1957). In 1976 they moved back to Block.

Although one of her greatest loves was gardening, she also worked at various places including Dr. and Mrs. Nichols, Citizens State Bank, Clemens and Green, Miami County National Bank, and Carter Reality. Before retiring she owned several real estate companies, Peckman Real Estate, and Biddison Peckman Real Estate. She enjoyed helping people achieve the goal of owning their first home. She started the organization for Professional Women in Paola. After her retirement she enjoyed keeping her garden and sewing with her granddaughter.

Patricia enjoyed being involved with her family and friends, and especially with her granddaughter’s activities.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elva Prothe, husband Donald Peckman, son Charles, brother Robert Prothe, in-laws Charlie and Ida Peckman, and brother-in-law George Minter.

Patricia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Terri and Chuck Weis and a granddaughter Rebecca Hurst, daughter-in-law Wendy Peckman, sister-in-law Gladys Prothe, nephew Jim Prothe (Sharon), sister-in-law Francis Minter, brother-in-law Harold Peckman (Ann), nephews Roger Peckman (Selena) and Clint Peckman (Roberta), and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church.
