Robert Leonard Fickel, 87, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on September 3rd at Carondelet Manor in Kansas City, Missouri.

Robert was born on November 3, 1927 in Paola, Kansas. He was the son of Floyd and Carrie Fickel. He graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1945. Shortly after, he enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps on November 2, 1945. Robert then went to college at Baker University in Baldwin, KS. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages in 1953. Robert worked as a Rate Analyst in the export and transportation industries and retired in 1985 while working for Riss Transportation Company.

Robert enjoyed going to movies, reading, watching t.v. and taking long walks. He also loved to travel. He used to travel to Dallas/Galveston once a year to visit friends when he was able.

He was preceded in death by his brother David Bowman Fickel, nephew Floyd David Fickel, his parents Floyd Marcellus and Carrie Eugenia Fickel and his brother Herbert Lee Fickel. He is survived by three nephews James Terry Fickel of Louisburg, John Herbert Fickel and his wife Elizabeth of Lawrence, and Dale Robert Fickel of Olathe; one great nephew Daryck Allen Fickel and his wife Traci, great nieces Janie Lee Bush and Kasey Lynne Fickel; and one great niece Madison Lynn Bush.
