Ethel “Maxine” Gallagher, age 94, of Paola, Kansas passed away October 20, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center.

Ethel was born January 17, 1920 in Paola, Kansas to Wallace and Jessie Pierce Hamm. She attended school in Paola and graduated from Paola High School.

On April 3, 1940 she was united in marriage to Elmor Gallagher in Paola, KS. Together they worked in the dairy business with their family until her retirement in early 2000. She enjoyed reading, antiquing and spending time with family and friends. She was a former 4-H community leader and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandchild; two sisters Nadine Hoffman and Wilma Hewitt; one brother Larry Hamm; and a nephew Joseph Hewitt. She is survived by three daughters Judy Pinneo, Mary Lynne (George) Hickman, and Carol Gallagher; one son Michael Gallagher; five grandchildren Kent (Donna) Hickman, Kari McDow, Troy Pinneo, Jason (Leslie) Hickman, and Nicole (Alan) McCaskey; eleven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister’s children whom she raised Glen Douglas Hewitt, Cathy A. Leaver, and John R. Hewitt.
