Paul Nelson Staley, age 73, of Paola, Kansas, died August 11, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Paul was born June 17, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He was the third of four children born to Earl Leroy and Vada Earnestine (Saunders) Staley. He attended school in Denver until the family moved to Parker, Kansas. He graduated from Parker High School with the Class of 1961. He attended Baker University after graduating from High School.

He was married to Melissa Diane Inscore. They became the parents of two sons. Their marriage ended.

He married Patsy Kathleen Thompson on August 6, 1971 in Edgerton, Kansas. They made their home in Paola.

Paul worked at Osawatomie State Hospital right out of high school. He then went to work at Taylor Forge in Paola and was currently working there. He was an integral part of Taylor Forge and was very dedicated to his career. He loved the people he worked with and got to know his co-workers personally. He had planned to retire this year. Taylor Forge was a big part of who Paul was.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paola.

Paul had several hobbies. He enjoyed long weekend scenic drives with Patsy. He also enjoyed wood working, gardening, and yard work. He truly enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Steven Staley, and two step-sons Brian and Mark Nash.

He is survived by his wife Patsy of the home; sons Mike Staley (Jo Ann) of Olathe and Steven Staley (Elisa) of Wellsville; two sisters Kathy Cooper (Jerry) of Harlingen, Texas and Becky Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; 8 grandchildren Steven Staley, Alicia Staley, Brian Paul Nash, Sarah Elizabeth Nash, Kelsey Hinman, Krista Hinman, Sheridan Barnes, and Cameron Barnes; 2 great grandchildren Kyler and Evalina Staley; other relatives and friends.
