Eva Rae Walters, 84, died December 7, 2016 at her home. Eva Rae was born April 1, 1932 at Ft. Scott, Kansas in her grandmother's house. She was the first of five children born to Raymond and Evelyn (Caylor) Stanchfield.

She attended school at rural Willow Branch and Paola High School. She married Gerald Walters of Paola in 1949 and had three children within five years.

Eva Rae was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker until her children went on their own. She started working for a local Medical Clinic where she made many lifelong friends. After nine years, she retired.

Eva Rae was a Willow Branch 4-H Club leader and project leader for many years. She was a member of the West Valley Pleasant Hour Club since 1954. She also volunteered for several different organizations throughout her life.

Eva Rae was preceded in death by her parents, brother William "Bill" Stanchfield, son-in-law John Doherty and brother-in-law Carl Russell.

She is survived by her daughters Dona Boley (Bill) of Kansas City, MO and Christie Doherty of Paola; son Gary Walters (Jim) of St. Louis, MO; and her grandchildren Kellie and Sean Doherty of Paola.

Contributions in memory of Eva Rae may be made to the Eva Rae Memorial Fund which will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation or Paola park tree fund and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071.
