Lorene Williams Burrows, 89, of Paola, Kansas, died January 28, 2017, at Olathe Hospice House.

Lorene was born within minutes of her twin brother, at Neutral, Kansas, to parents William Cleabern and Mary Jewel Holden Williams.

Lorene lived the majority of her life on farms in Cherokee County, Kansas, first with her family of origin and later when she and husband Marvin Burrows took over the management of his family's farm.

Lorene taught hundreds of students starting in a two-room schoolhouse at Hallowell, Kansas. She completed her degree at Pittsburg State Teachers College and taught the remainder of her career at Central Junior High at Columbus.

After her husband's death, Lorene decided to relocate to Paola to be closer to family. Lorene made an exemplary transition. In addition to following the activities of her grandchildren, she enjoyed church, travel, golfing, playing bridge, book clubs, quilting and volunteering with school children.

Preceding her in death were parents, spouse, sisters Lavon Baird and Peggy Thomas and brothers Paul, Loren, Robert and Harold Dean "Bus".

She is survived by sister Ina Mae Carney of Joplin, MO; sister-in-law Kay Williams of Owasso, OK; daughters Debra (Bob) Dameron of Paola, KS and Brenda Burrows of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions to Oswego Methodist Church, Paola Lighthouse Church or Olathe Hospice House.
