Jennie Skuban, 92, of Paola passed away at Olathe Medical Center on February 7, 2017.

She was born July 17, 1924, in New Brunswick, NJ to Frank and Anna (Kevra) Dorofachuk. Jennie was united in marriage to John Skuban on September 15, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Church in New Jersey. They moved from Cleveland, Ohio in 1956 to Overland Park where John was employed at Wishbone Salad Dressing, a family business, and worked there until retirement in 1980.

Jennie was a voracious reader, enjoying mostly suspense and mystery novels. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, but mostly spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She also loved to travel, especially to the east coast, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with her sisters. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Her quick wit, sass, and “whatever” attitude was hard to miss, and she was always the life of any party. There was no better love, however, than hers, and her heart of gold will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Anna and Frank, and six of her seven siblings.

Survivors include her sister Doris Raneri of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three children, daughter Linda and husband Gene Wineland of Galena, MO, son John Skuban of Lawrence, KS, son Mark Skuban of LaCygne, KS; six grandchildren, Kenny and wife Megan Olson of Paola, KS, Brian and wife Annie Olson of Lawrence, KS, Nick Skuban of Louisburg, KS, Christopher and wife Molly Skuban of Evergreen, CO, Johnny and wife Amanda Skuban of Lincoln, NE, Courtney and husband Jason Gann of Wamego, KS; nine great grandchildren, Maddie, Myah, Sadie, Carter, Zach, Brady, Keegan, Kyla, and Cooper; and extended family Andrew, Kelsey, and Jessop Wineland of Gardner, KS.

Memorials may be made to Frontier League Champions/Special Olympics. Please send to 405 Hospital Dr., Paola, KS 66071.
