Arnold Fredrick Rentz, of Paola, passed away September 28, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center.

Arnold was born April 23, 1933, at Paola, Kansas to Reinhold and Maggie Ohlmeier Rentz. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith as an infant at First Lutheran Church in Paola. His mother died when he was 14 months old.

On March 30, 1947, he confirmed his faith at First Lutheran Church in Paola.

On February 1, 1953, he was married to Leona Lohaus at First Lutheran Church in Paola. Their married life was spent in the Paola area except for a short time in Florence, Colorado and Appleton City, Missouri. They became parents to three children.

He served in the Armed Services from May, 1953 to May, 1955. He belonged to the Pipefitters Union, Local 533 and worked as a welder in construction. He was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church where he held several offices.

His hobby was restoring antique pickup trucks. He had a 1953 Ford Pickup and a 1952 Mercury Pickup that he enjoyed showing at car shows throughout the area. He was a member of the Classic Cruisers Car Club, and the American Legion of Paola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhold and Maggie Ohlmeier Rentz his step-mother, Estella Koelsch Rentz, one brother, Henry Rentz, an infant sister, one half brother, Roy Rentz, and one granddaughter, Brenda Chronister.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Rentz, of the home, one son, Dennis Rentz (Kim) of Paola, two daughters, Jane Chronister (Rick) of Paola, and Connie Brand (Paul) of Shawnee, Kansas, four grandchildren, Brigette McIntire (Tim) of Paola, April Chronister (Matt) of Hillsdale, Brook Rentz (Kevin) of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Erica Brand of Shawnee, Kansas, two great grandchildren, Keira McIntire and Mason Scioli-McIntire, one half brother, Leonard Rentz of Paxton, Illinois and one half sister, Irene Shumway of Pratt, Kansas. He was looking forward to the arrival of a great grandson in November.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are to the First Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
