I am so sorry to hear that Gary no longer is among us. My deepest condolences to the family and friends, he was special. I guess t I recall his artistic abilities more than anything making my "Shecky the Safety Slug coffee mug and tee shirt (with certificate of authenticity) even more of a precious keepsake. His old BK friends will know what this means.
R.I.P. Gary.

This may be coming somewhat late, but I was thinking of Gary today. I looked up his face book page and saw this opportunity. One of the last spots he has marked on his places he had visited was Arrowhead golf course here in Colorado. My son and I were with him there. We spent a couple of days playing golf with Gary when he came here to visit. We played Arrowhead and Red Hawk Ridge in those two days. We loved playing golf together and I loved having his camera there. My office has several pictures that he sent and yes, that he captioned for us. I think of him often and remember the good times we had. I met him in 1991 and worked with him until 2010. So sorry for your loss, he touched a lot of lives in a great way.

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

To Gary's family,
So sorry for your loss. I was lucky to get to know Gary for a short time while I was working at Relm. He was kind and happy. He will always be missed and loved by me.
~ - January 4, 2013
To Gary's family and friends -- I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Gary's passing. I had been trying to find him recently, and only by chance did I come across the obituary. I was Gary's friend for quite a few years in the 70's and 80's. I met Gary during his one and only semester at Emporia State, and he introduced this country boy to a new world in "the city". I spent many weekends at the Kessler home on Circle Drive, made many journeys to the city, and his family always made me feel welcomed. It was my second home, and he was the younger brother I never had. We exchanged a few e-mails after he moved to Florida, but time and our own growing families took it's toll. I hadn't spoken with Gary in several years, but I never stopped missing the laughter. He was a great friend, a proud father, and though he will be missed, he will always be remembered.

I have know Gary for about 18 years. I think the most memorable time I ever spent with Gary was when we were all doing a training together in John Day, Oregon. We spent too many hours laughing at the karaoke singers and telling stories. Fun times. He will be missed at IWCE and all Relm functions. My heart goes out to his friends and family. So sorry for the loss.
~ - December 11, 2012
I only knew Gary a short time while working for RELM from 2000 to 2009 but it felt like a lifetime. He always had stories to tell and pictures to show. He was my go-to guy whenever I had questions. Playing a round of golf with Gary was an experience in itself, you even laughed at the bad shots.
One day I went into his office and noticed on his desk a little pill bottle with a tiny 3 leg stool inside. The label on the bottle said "Stool Sample". I just had my physical that month and started laughing cause I thought that would be a good joke for my doctor. Well, Gary gave it to me. So that little bottle brought some laughter to a doctor in Fort Worth Texas. He is using it now to spread laughter to all the patients that come to his office.
That's the type of guy Gary was to me.

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers to all of The Kessler Family.
Gary has been a close friend of mine for years. I met Gary through the phone calls back and forth between Florida and Kansas. I was his" Bendix Queen", then he moved here and it was even better to be around him every day. Gary taught me so much and loved to share. Always had something to say...with the nicest smile. We traveled together for years and I am going to cherish all of the memories of great times we shared. There is so much of Gary's memorabilia around us here at RELM.He will always be remembered and missed.
Family was everything to Gary.Alex and Emily your Dad was an awesome guy and such a great friend.I am going to miss him and he will be missed by many.

Gary was not just a business partner, he was my friend. I knew I could count on his technical support for whatever the issue might be. Then we would talk about the good things in life. I will miss him and so will the Public Safety Radio community. My condolences to his family.
~ - November 27, 2012
My condolences to the family. Gary and I worked together at King Radio/BK. I am so sorry to hear about his death. He was a special person. He had so much talent. He was a good friend to have in my life. The stories he could tell and write. I remember Shecky the Slug Bug he developed to raise money for the Battered Women' home in Lawrence, his stories about his brothers were histerical. He will be missed.

I worked, Drank, Went to Dinner, Lunch, played Darts, Talked about Alex and Emily with Gary. I know he LOVED them more than any words can ever express. We talked about Emily and her College days. We talked about their Dog, Sparky, the TV shows he liked and many, many more experiences, like the time he rented a car, a Dodge Charger and Gary learned what a HEMI is!
In the time we spend here living the lives we live, we meet many other humans and get to know a lot of them. Some of them become good aquitainces and if you are lucky, some become FRIENDS. Gary was my FRIEND. I always looked forward to seeing and talking with him.
I have not worked with Gary for the last 10 years but every year when he came to Las Vegas for the IWCE show, he called me and we would hook up for a drink or dinner, or just a talk. He enjoyed working with the Park Service Employees and wanted to visit every National Park. Gary, I will miss you more than I can say, and I will think of you often and smile, because you made me smile. Until we see each other again, and we will, you will be in my thought process often and ALWAYS in my heart.
I am LUCKY and HAPPY that I knew you and wish more humans could have met you as you would have made their lives better. From Earth to Heaven, here is a HUG and a SMILE from me and thank you for being you.
With Love and Tears, I remain your FRIEND, Lenny the bald guy with long hair! Thanks for describing me in such an accurate way. See ya later!

My sincere condolences to the Kessler family and friends.
I know Gary will be missed a lot. About the most easy going guy I knew from work and always a smile and great person to work with. Always admired that. Sometimes friends move away and slip away from the radar because of distance and time but the good memories will always be there and never be forgotten. Peace be with you Gary.
~ - November 22, 2012
I am sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I have only fond memories of Gary and the Kessler family from my time in Paola. My deepest sympathy and love to you all.

What an incredible loss. Gary had a great sense of humor, a zest for life, and a generous, giving heart. I am so sorry to hear he is gone. There is no doubt he loved his children more than life itself. ~Laura Kang, nee Key, PHS Class of 1977

Dear Kessler clan, my heart and thoughts are with you all, Gary is taking quite a piece of us all with him. He is also leaving an indelible and recognizable mark of himself behind on us as well.
Gary really is something special, rare, and comfortable all at the same time. I hope you (His family) do know that you were his most prized possessions, especially Alex and Emily.
Gary, I love you and I'm going to miss you, but forever is not as long as it used to be... and you still owe me a fishing trip.

Gary was the rare individual who could make you feel better no matter what life might throw at you. He was enthusiastic and passionate, but never took himself too seriously. More than anything, he was very proud of his family. We will all miss his spirit, his unique wit, and his perspective of life.
~ - November 20, 2012
Mary, Michele and all--
Gary was much younger than me, but I do recall that smile. Infectious! I think the caring memories that fill his guestbook are a wonderful tribute to him and a testament to the impact he made on others' lives.
~ - November 20, 2012
So sorry for your loss.
~ - November 20, 2012
Gary was a special person and he will be missed by all who knew him. He was such an avid Chief's fan and he hated my Broncos. Last time I spoke with him he told me that he liked my Rockies because they made his Royals look good. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to count Gary as one of my friends and my heart goes out to his family.
~ - November 20, 2012
I will miss Gary and all his wonderful pictures. He and I shared the love of photography. He did so many wonderful things with his pictures and loved to share them. I am sure there are many people with one of his calendars or nature pictures somewhere around them. If you appreciate the pictures he took you will know Gary as I did. His eye for the beautiful nature around us helped us all see the country as he traveled. We will miss him. My prayers to his family and friends.
~ - November 20, 2012
I shall miss Gary on both a professional and personal level. I met him through his support of the BK radios, of which he did at a highest level. Gray was the "service after sales " for Relm and I know whenever I called him, he would help me or fine me someone to help. This shell be missed by all who Gary touched.
On a personal side Gary was fun and had a good sence of humor. He loved visiting the National Parks and make an efforts to do so whenever he could. He was taken from the world way to soon. My heart goes our to his family as he loved you all so well.
~ - November 20, 2012
Kessler Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. While I hadn't seen Gary in years, it sounds like he was just as easy-going and fun-loving as I remember him being when I knew him mostly just as Deanna's brother. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

He was a good man and a very good friend to all of us.

Deanna,
I am so sad to hear about Gary and my heart goes out to you and your family. I will always remember how he let us hang out with him in our high school years and what great times we shared! He had an amazing sense of humor and never complained about his "little sister" and her entourage! Seeing his picture made me smile because I can tell he hadn't changed a bit.
Hugs especially to you, Mary, Connie and Michele.
Thinking of you all...Sharon

Not only was Gary an employee and co-worker, but he was a good friend of mine. No matter what we were doing I knew it was going to be a good time. His calm nature and unprecedented wit really made him stand out. He was always a joy to be around. Many times he would say something funny that really caught you off guard. He was extremely clever and was always thinking outside of the box.
He will truly be missed and I will never forget him and for what a great person he was...

My sincere condolences to Emily, Alex, and the rest of the Kessler family.

Gary was the kind of fellow employee who would talk to you even if he didnt know you, a new hire. I enjoyed conversations we had at break, while catching a smoke over the years. Gary's personality & presence will be missed, but never forgotten with me or here at Relm.

The world has lost a unique individual. One that can never be replaced.
We will always remember Gary's smile, his sharp wit, his ability to bring laughter in any circumstance, his love of nature and the wilderness, and his dedication to his family and friends. He gave a part of himself to everyone who knew and loved him. He will be missed...

Goodbye little brother Gary. Thanks for all the good times and memories. You were a great golfing and fishing partner, fun to travel with, and always had great jokes. You will be missed at the family get-togethers and just sipping beer on the back porch, but you will always be remembered. See you on the other side.

Dear Kessler family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I went to college with Emily and have fond memories of Mr. Kessler visiting her. He was always joking and had a good heart--he and my dad got along famously! Emily and I said they had more fun hanging out with each other than visiting us. I simply remember thinking how lucky Emily was to have such a loving father. My dad sends his condolences as well and please know that you will be in my thoughts.
Love, Minda
~ - November 20, 2012
Gary, you will be missed. I can't remember a time when you were upset about something any longer than a short minute. Life is too short and I'm glad that my memories of you will always be ones of laughter and your amazing imagination. Everything you were a part of from the Ten Swinging D's, Shecky the Safety Slug and the artwork on my Night in the Gutter party announcements will always bring a smile to my face. May God bless you and your family.

Gary and I lived in the same neighborhood in Paola and spent countless hours playing together. Nearly all of my best memories of childhood involve Gary. He was always there, always a friend. Kick the can, basketball, that weird vibrating football game with pieces that always seemed to go around in circles, listening to music, slot cars, Stingray bikes, girls, parties, golfing and swimming at the Country Club, cruising the square, working together one summer at the Pizza Hut, the Peter Frampton concert at Arrowhead. What an incredibly great childhood I had because of Gary. I will miss you dearly but remember you so very fondly. Love, Bill.
~ - November 19, 2012
Gary had such a creative mind and what a great sense of humor! I remember lining my work area with his concoctions made from leftover resistors and capacitors and such. What a shock to hear of his much to early passing. I will always smile when I think of him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Farewell Gary.
~ - November 19, 2012

A lot of people share in this sadness today. Our deepest condolences to the Kessler family. Gary was a fun person and threw the best Christmas parties as any King Radio, Allied Signal or Honeywell employee can tell you. Rest in peace my friend.
~ - November 19, 2012
Thank you Gary for being a wonderful friend and co-worker, I enjoyed every minute we spent together. We played 100’s of rounds of golf and drank far to many Miller Lites to even count but we all ways had a good time no matter how bad or how good we played it was about being with good friends. Gary was an avid Football fan he stuck with the Kansas City Chief through thick and thin. Gary all so enjoyed Fantasy Football were he won the Championship with his team named the Atomic Wedgies two years ago. Gary left this world far too early but he will never be forgotten. I will end this how one of Gary’s favorite comedians Bill Hicks would end his shows.
All Matter is Merely Energy Condensed to a Slow Vibration
We are All One Consciousness Experiencing Itself Subjectively
There’s no such thing as death
Life is only a dream
And we’re the imagination of ourselves

Michele.....always liked your brother Gary....He was always nice to me, even though I was a freshman and he was a senior. Life sometimes seems unfair and we wonder why God makes the choices he does, but life somehow, for us, must go on. I'll make sure that my brother, Marty, knows since he considered Gary a good friend in high school. I send my prayers to your family at this time and know that if there's anything we can do, all you have to do is ask. Love Cindy

You were:
My best friend through high school.
Best Man at our wedding.
Godfather to our daughter, Erica.
But, as our lives changed to the inevitable "grown up chaos", we also lost touch with each other.
When you moved back to Lawrence, we were supposed to get together to see if we could terrorize Kansas like we used to. :)
I am SO sorry I let everything else take priority. We SHOULD have gotten together again.
GOD SPEED, BROTHER!
