Jerry Max Morlan, 84, passed away November 23, 2012 at Research Medical Center.

Jerry was born May 30, 1928 to Floyd and Faye Stewart Morlan in Wyandotte County, Kansas. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II from 1946 to 1947 and spent time in the South China Seas. He worked for Fogel Construction for many years and then worked for DiCarlo Construction of Kansas City before retiring in 1989. He belonged to the VFW of Paola and Carpenter’s Local Union #358.

On May 2, 1970 he was united in marriage to Leona Curl. They moved to Paola from Kansas City in 1983 to live in the country among the trees and raised chickens, rabbits, turkeys and quail.

Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing and liked to go traveling on fishing trips. Being a carpenter at heart, he loved working with his hands. He also enjoyed writing poetry and stories and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stewart; daughter Ruth; son John; grandsons Daniel Jared, and Isaac Max; and granddaughter Melody Faye. He is survived by his wife Leona of the home; children Jeri Hope (Pat) Cuevas of Oklahoma City, OK, Helen Morlan of Overland Park, KS, Jackie Morgan of Houston, TX, Keith Lowry (Teri) of Paola, KS, Jackie Finney of Springfield, MO, Chuck Dela of VA, and Val (John) Bender of Lincoln, NB; sister Barbara Higgins of Visalia, CA; 30 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
