Mary Louise Ludwig Collins, 91, of Overland Park, passed away on September 26, 2013 at Atriums Assisted Living.

Mary Lou was born on October 5, 1921 to Charles and Lena (Low) Bair in Miami County, Kansas. She graduated from Osage Township School in Fontana, Kansas in 1939. She was united in marriage to Elwood E. Ludwig on August 24, 1941 in Paola, Kansas. They had two children Carol and Duane and made their home in Miami County, Kansas.

She received her Bachelor's degree from Ottawa University in 1960 and her Master's degree from Pittsburg State University in 1970. Mary Lou worked as a fourth grade teacher in the Osawatomie School District for 27 years. Mary Lou’s husband Elwood passed away in 1998. On September 27, 2001 she married Andrew Collins in Paola, Kansas. Andrew passed away in 2004.

She was a member of Fontana United Methodist Church, Paola United Methodist Church, Alpha Delta Kappa, and Retired Teachers Association.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Carol Farley; son, Duane E. "Woody" Ludwig (Nancy); grandchildren Bryan Farley, Jennifer Ludwig Haroutunian (Seb), Sheryl Ludwig, Brian Hesse (Holly); and great grandchildren Samantha Farley, Jaxon and Ella Hesse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister Doris Irene Dalton and brother, Ernest C. Bair.
