Rose M. Wiltse, former long time resident of Paola, passed away January 2, 2015, at Tallgrass Creek senior community in Overland Park, Ks. Rose was born November 25, 1918, in Dawson, Nebraska, to Bertha and C. Hugh McGinnis. She graduated from Humboldt High School, Humboldt, Nebraska. Upon graduation she taught grades 1 thru 8, in a one room school house in rural Nebraska. She then attended and graduated from Peru State College, Peru, Nebraska. Her next teaching position was at North Platte High School , North Platte, Nebraska.

Rose was a flight attendant for Western Airlines, flying internationally from Salt Lake City to Alberta, Canada. On July 14, 1944, she was married to Edgar L. Wiltse in Falls City, Nebraska. They were married for 54 years.

Rose taught at Ursuline Academy for several years, and then taught English at Paola High School for 10 years. She worked in the library at Johnson County Community College. Following a long-time interest in floral design, Rose enjoyed working part time at several area floral shops. She was a member of the Olathe Garden and Civic Club. In 2013, she was recognized as a life member of the Kansas Associated Garden Club. Rose was a member of the Paola United Methodist Church for over sixty years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by two daughters, Kristin Downing, Melrose, MA, and Sue Ann Fagerberg and her husband, Richard, Lake Quivira, KS. and, and one grandchild, Chad Fagerberg, Shawnee, KS.

Memorial service will be held January 8, 2015, at 11:00 at the Paola Methodist Church. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Paola Methodist Church.
